WANGEROOGE<\/strong> Works to modernise the island supply port at Wangerooge Harbour began in March 2026. The measures form part of an overall project to upgrade the port infrastructure on the island. \u201cDismantling the existing pile structures at the jetty marks the starting signal for our future-focused project on Wangerooge,\u201d says Anja Bokeloh of the Norden branch of NPorts. \u201cThis will be followed by the creation of an open area to prepare for the subsequent construction activities. In the next step, the site will undergo an unexploded ordnance survey before a sheet-pile wall is installed along the dune. There will be no impact on island supplies or ferry services. \u201cThe pier will remain accessible during the current construction phase and the island railway will run as normal,\u201d emphasises Bokeloh. \u201cEspecially with the Easter holidays in mind, we have organised our operations in such a way that passengers can travel safely and without restrictions from the ship to the railway and back.\u201d<\/p>\n
