In future, the terminal is intended to handle not only containers but also components for wind turbines, cars and military shipments. Plans for such a port expansion were most recently driven forward by the Mosolf Group, which handles vehicle shipments in Wilhelmshaven as a logistics service provider. In a vision paper now presented by NPorts, the JadeWeserPort quay is to be extended northwards by around 900 metres to accommodate the new terminal. However, approvals and funding are still pending.
