In future, the terminal is set to enable the import of hydrogen via ammonia. After the ammonia is unloaded, the compound of nitrogen and hydrogen will be split on site in an industrial-scale ammonia cracker, and the hydrogen fed into Germany\u2019s hydrogen core network. Suitable rail loading capacity for the safe transport of ammonia by rail will also be available thereafter. With an annual import capacity of up to 2.6 million tonnes of ammonia\u2014equivalent to around 350,000 tonnes of hydrogen\u2014the project is an important component of Germany\u2019s future hydrogen infrastructure.
