In July, State Secretary Matthias Wunderling-Weilbier (centre) presented the grant notification to Papenburg\u2019s Mayor Vanessa Gattung (second from left) in the presence of District Administrator Marc-Andr\u00e9 Burgdorf (second from right). The state funding from the Economic Development Fund (WFF) will enable two key investments in the local port: the construction of the new inland approach to the sea lock and the expansion of the fluid mud system. The total cost of the two projects amounts to around 49.3 million euros. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Wunderling-Weilbier emphasised: \u201cWith this substantial funding, we as the state government are sending a strong signal in support of Papenburg as a business location.
