At the opening of the world\u2019s most important trade fair for the maritime industry, Hamburg\u2019s Senator for Economic Affairs, Ms Leonhard, emphasised the importance of secure infrastructure and resilient supply chains for the sector. Leading representatives of international shipowners\u2019 and shipping associations also attended the opening. At the SMM, more than 2,300 companies from 70 countries are showcasing their innovations in the fields of shipbuilding, shipping and port operations. This year\u2019s focus is on climate-friendly propulsion systems, energy efficiency, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and safety at sea. A total of around 50,000 trade visitors are expected. Running alongside the SMM, \u2018All About Ports\u2019 is taking place in Hamburg for the first time. This is a combination of a specialist conference and exhibition that comprehensively covers all structures and processes within the port.
