“Hydrogen-based iron ore direct reduction at the Wilhelmshaven site”: Feasibility study successfully completed

Niedersachsen, August 2021 | End of August the study partners – consisting of the steel manufacturers Salzgitter and ArcelorMittal, the energy company Uniper, the logistics specialist Rhenus, the city of Wilhelmshaven and the state of Niedersachsen – presented the results of their feasibility study on the potential and perspective of an iron ore direct reduction plant based on green hydrogen at the Wilhelmshaven site to the state government of Niedersachsen.

In addition to high-ranking company representatives, the Minister for Economics, Labor, Transport and Digitization in Niedersachsen, Dr. Bernd Althusmann, Olaf Lies, Minister for the Environment, Energy Construction and Climate Protection, Matthias Wunderling-Weilbier, State Secretary in the Ministry for Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development, and the Lord Mayor of Wilhelmshaven, Carsten Feist participated in the video conference.
