Refurbished lock gate returns
WILHELMSHAVEN. The Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt (WSA) Weser-Jade-Nordsee announced in March the successful completion of the major refurbishment and conversion of the sliding gate at the Wilhelmshaven sea lock.
1.5 million euros for new lock technology

BREMERHAVEN. A building was completed in the small fishing harbour lock in August, which will house the technical equipment for running the lock. The cost amounted to 1.5 million euros. The new build will store all the sensitive drive components and controls above the current valid level, in order to ensure operational safety even at higher water levels. Further construction works are already planned for 2023, notably the modernisation of the electromechanical drives on the lock head.

New multi-purpose terminal planned for JadeWeserPort
WILHELMSHAVEN. Germany’s only deep-water port, JadeWeserPort, is set to be expanded with a new terminal. “It will be a multi-purpose terminal,” announced NPorts Managing Director Holger Banik at a press conference in March.
