Cuxhaven, 5 November 2020 – Head of the Cuxhaven’s Economic Development Agency becomes newest member of the HWG board
Hans-Peter Zint, Chairman of the Board, thanked the members for their continuing trust and at the same time welcomed the newest board member: “We are very pleased that the traditionally close cooperation between the Port Association and the City of Cuxhaven will continue through the commitment of Marc Itgen. Next year we will further promote the port of Cuxhaven and position it as a good alternative route for transports between Continent and UK in the Brexit scenario”. Other priorities include the further development of the German Offshore Industry Centre and the electrification of the railway lines to and from Cuxhaven. “We are confident that together and in cooperation with the city of Cuxhaven, state port operator Niedersachsen Ports, Seaports of Niedersachsen and other relevant authorities and politicians, we can continue to achieve positive results,” adds Zint.
BREMEN. In its 2025 annual report, the Maritime Shipping Vocational Training Office (BBS) presented a differentiated, but overall stable, assessment of developments in maritime training in April 2026.
BREMERHAVEN. The “DigiWeser” project officially launched at the operational level in May 2026 with a kick-off meeting. At the core of the initiative is the establishment of a digital testbed featuring a Port Call Optimization Platform, through which all key stakeholders will be able to exchange information more effectively in the future.

WILHELMSHAVEN. Uniper Hydrogen has launched an open season for the allocation of capacity at its planned hydrogen import terminal in Wilhelmshaven. This facility will enable the import of hydrogen via ammonia in future.
