Refurbished lock gate returns
WILHELMSHAVEN. The Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt (WSA) Weser-Jade-Nordsee announced in March the successful completion of the major refurbishment and conversion of the sliding gate at the Wilhelmshaven sea lock.

WILHELMSHAVEN. A strong signal from the Inner Harbour of Wilhelmshaven: The Wilhelmshavener Hafenwirtschafts-Vereinigung (WHV e.V.) has initiated a petition to ensure the continued functionality of the sea lock “4th Entrance” and has now forwarded it to the Federal Ministry of Defence.
In the petition, the Wilhelmshavener Hafenwirtschafts-Vereinigung points out that the sea lock “4th Entrance” has been operating with restricted functionality for years and calls for reliable, permanently secured use of the facility. This reflects a clear expectation that this matter—of great importance to Wilhelmshaven—will receive priority attention.
An impressive majority of companies in the Inner Harbour have joined this initiative. The broad support highlights the central importance of the sea lock “4th Entrance” for the Wilhelmshaven location—and at the same time shows that local stakeholders are united on this issue.
“The strong unity shows that we are dealing with a matter of decisive importance for the entire location. I would like to expressly thank all those involved,” emphasizes Andreas Bullwinkel, President of the Wilhelmshavener Hafenwirtschafts-Vereinigung (WHV e.V.).
