WILHELMSHAVEN. The Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt (WSA) Weser-Jade-Nordsee announced in March the successful completion of the major refurbishment and conversion of the sliding gate at the Wilhelmshaven sea lock.
Böttner receives Briese award

LEER. The ‘Briese Prize for Marine Research’ is an annual award that honours outstanding researchers. In 2021 it was awarded to Dr Christoph Böttner, who addressed in his thesis the question of how fluids and gases spread in marine sediment. According to the shipping company, which awards the prize annually, Mr Böttner combined methods from geophysics, geology and geochemistry in a new way in order to analyse the underlying geological processes more precisely. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros.

New multi-purpose terminal planned for JadeWeserPort
WILHELMSHAVEN. Germany’s only deep-water port, JadeWeserPort, is set to be expanded with a new terminal. “It will be a multi-purpose terminal,” announced NPorts Managing Director Holger Banik at a press conference in March.
