LEER. The ‘Briese Prize for Marine Research’ is an annual award that honours outstanding researchers. In 2021 it was awarded to Dr Christoph Böttner, who addressed in his thesis the question of how fluids and gases spread in marine sediment. According to the shipping company, which awards the prize annually, Mr Böttner combined methods from geophysics, geology and geochemistry in a new way in order to analyse the underlying geological processes more precisely.
