Construction start for new logistics centre

BERLIN. The ‘German Ports’ Alliance made its public debut on 10 June 2026 at a high-profile event held at the Hamburg State Representation in Berlin. The new alliance comprises the eight German port infrastructure operators.

EMDEN. In mid-June, members of the NPorts Supervisory Board were briefed on the progress of construction work on the new large-vessel berth in Emden’s outer harbour. The large-vessel berth is being built to a length of around 337 metres and will in future enable the handling of large vehicle and general cargo ships.

HOLZWICKEDE / DORTMUND. Rhenus Road Freight received official approval in June 2026 to build a transshipment centre in Dortmund. The new site, which is scheduled for completion and commissioning in 2027, will replace the existing Road Freight site in nearby Unna.

HOLZWICKEDE/CUXHAVEN. The Rhenus Group and Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2026 to enter into a strategic partnership at Rhenus Cuxport’s site in Cuxhaven.
