WILHELMSHAVEN. AIn early May, Robert Habeck (Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action), Olaf Lies (Lower Saxony’s Minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Protection) and Dr Bernd Althusmann (Lower Saxony‘s Minister for Economics, Labour, Transportation and Digitisation) marked the start of the construction works to build the first LNG terminal in Germany by driving in the initial official pile. The first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) is due to moor at the loading and unloading terminal at Voslapper Groden as early as winter 2022/2023. Holger Banik, Managing Director of NPorts commented: “Wilhelmshaven is the perfect place for the expansion of energy alternatives in Germany in the short term.
