NORDDEICH. Artificial lighting at night has far-reaching effects on humans, animals, and the environment. The international research project “Darker Sky” has therefore set itself the goal of developing innovative and sustainable lighting solutions, including for port facilities in sensitive coastal regions. At a public information event held by the Lower Saxony project partners NPorts, the University of Oldenburg, and the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park Administration at the end of November 2025, numerous guests were given an exciting insight into the project and an impression of what modern, environmentally friendly lighting looks like in practice.
