Wilhelmshaven, November 17, 2020 – GRANDE PORTOGALLO loads around 600 vehicles
Within just one year, the idea of the CEO of the MOSOLF Group, Dr. Jörg Mosolf, to export vehicles from Wilhelmshaven by seagoing ship has become a reality: On Saturday, the GRANDE PORTOGALLO, the first ship of the Italian Grimaldi Group, moored at the MOSOLF Auto Terminal Wilhelmshaven to load around 600 vehicles.
The first loading was preceded by months of preparation in order to create the necessary structures for the transhipment business. In addition to for example adapting the storage areas, it was also about the development of the necessary IT connections as well as the coordination with all partners involved in the business and the responsible authorities. “In just a few months, we created a new business out of nowhere – even though the current corona situation has didn’t make things easier.” said Dr. Jörg Mosolf taking account of this first performance in Wilhelmshaven.

BERLIN/HAMBURG. The Offshore Wind Energy Foundation and the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) have expressly welcomed the plan by the Federal Government’s Coordinator for Maritime Economy and Tourism, Dr Christoph Ploß, to extend the tonnage tax to vessels in the offshore wind sector.
BREMERHAVEN. The Bremen Senate is providing around 56 million euros for the expansion. Among other things, these funds will be used to build seven additional tracks, each approximately 740 metres long. There are also plans to digitise the existing infrastructure to improve the port’s connection to the hinterland.
