BREMERHAVEN. With a symbolic “first pile driven,” construction of the new north pier officially began in February. After intensive planning, comprehensive coordination, and financing secured by the Senate and Parliament, work has now begun on the Bremerhaven structure, which was damaged in an accident in 2022. “The new construction of the north pier is more than just a building project: it stands for safety, sustainability, and the clear recognition that port infrastructure cannot tolerate any investment backlog,” said Kristina Vogt, Bremen’s Senator for Economic Affairs, Ports, and Transformation, on the occasion of the first pile driving.
