HAMBURG Karl Gernandt took over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Hapag-Lloyd in March. The manager succeeded Michael Behrendt, who, according to the Hamburg-based container shipping company, is currently unable to perform his duties as Chairman for health reasons. However, Behrendt will remain a full member of the supervisory body. ‘This decision does not affect the extraordinary services rendered by Michael Behrendt, whose return to the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board is expressly desired by all members once he has made a full recovery,’ Hapag-Lloyd announced. With his appointment as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Karl Gernandt has handed over his mandate as Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee to Oscar Eduardo Hasbún Martínez.

BREMERHAVEN. The Bremen Senate is providing around 56 million euros for the expansion. Among other things, these funds will be used to build seven additional tracks, each approximately 740 metres long. There are also plans to digitise the existing infrastructure to improve the port’s connection to the hinterland.
