BREMERHAVEN. In July 2026, a heavy-lift freighter docked for the first time at BLG’s new ‘Roter Sand’ South Harbour in Bremerhaven’s Kaiserhafen I to take on a cargo of power station modules. The ‘Palmgracht’, just under 169 metres long, used its on-board heavy-lift cranes to load, amongst other things, two power station modules from Siemens Energy weighing around 400 and 480 tonnes respectively, which were destined for a project in the USA. From now on, BLG Logistics will be assembling plant and machinery at the new southern harbour that cannot be transported by road due to their weight and size. Two berths with a total quay length of 600 metres provide space for deep-sea Ro-Ro carriers. Eleven new high bollards ensure the secure mooring of large vessels. The infrastructure is complemented by a modern IT connection via a fibre-optic cable laid specifically by Kaiserhafen. In the future, the new site – previously used by the repair yard MWB/German Dry Docks – is to be seamlessly connected to the BLG Car Terminal in Bremerhaven.

EMDEN / DÜSSELDORF Ems Ports Agency and Stevedoring Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG (epas) was awarded the ‘Großer Preis des Mittelstandes’ (Grand Prize for Medium-Sized Enterprises) 2026 on 12 September.
HAMBURG. Together with Hamburg’s Senator for Economic Affairs and Innovation, Dr Melanie Leonhard, and the main contractor Gieseke, the CEO of BLG LOGISTICS, Matthias Magnor, laid the foundation stone for a sustainable site development in the Port of Hamburg on 17 September 2026.
BREMEN. From 21 September, the level crossing on Ludwig-Plate-Straße will undergo extensive renovation. The works are expected to last until 30 October. During this period, Ludwig-Plate-Straße will be closed to private motorised traffic in the vicinity of the level crossing.
