Meyer Shipyard has cruise ships outfitted in Emden

17.03.2026

EMDEN. The Emden Port Development Association (EHFG) is delighted that the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg has chosen to have four of its new cruise ships outfitted at Emden’s outer harbour in 2027 and 2028. This is made possible by a sophisticated logistical system involving all participating companies, authorities and organisations. The outfitting work over the next two years will be a joint effort by the Port of Emden. In the EHFG’s view, this represents an important contribution to further strengthening cooperation between the Emsland and East Frisia regions in the maritime sector along the River Ems. The EHFG congratulates everyone who played a part in this success and made it possible. Last year, the ASUKA III was already fitted out in Emden with everything the ship required – from A for a colander to Z for a lemon squeezer. The final outfitting of the ASUKA III was already seen as the starting point for the outfitting of further luxury liners built in Papenburg. “The decision was made in favour of Emden primarily because the Port of Emden did an excellent job last year,” said Reinhard Hegewald, head of the Emden Port Promotion Association.
