BREMEN Current geopolitical developments are having an impact. According to a survey conducted in April by the Bremen Freight Forwarders’ Association among its 150 member companies, trade with the US alone fell by 20 per cent last year – primarily due to punitive tariffs at US ports. “Uncertainty is poison for the markets.” emphasises Thorsten Dornia, Chairman of the Bremen Freight Forwarders’ Association. He adds: “2025 was not a good year.” In his view, it therefore seems almost miraculous that the export business of Bremen’s freight forwarders declined by just half a per cent last year. Imports last year actually increased by almost six per cent.
