Emden and Dörpen launch port dialogue

25.02.2026

EMDEN/DÖRPEN. On the initiative of CDU state parliament member Hartmut Moorkamp, the “Emden-Dörpen Port Dialogue” was launched in February. Representatives from both ports met with politicians and administrators in Dörpen. At the start of the event, Moorkamp praised the close cooperation that has existed along the Ems for more than 40 years: “Emden and Dörpen are well connected by the East Frisian-Emsland waterway network. More than 400 inland vessels travel between the two ports every year.” However, this is just one of many reasons why the dialogue that has been started should be intensified and held alternately in Emden and Dörpen.
