Bremerhaven sets an example for green shipping

BREMERHAVEN Together with the Port of Antwerp and the South Korean Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation, Bremerhaven took a step towards low-emission shipping in April. At the “International Green RoRo Shipping Corridor and Decarbonisation Workshop” in Bremerhaven, the partners issued a joint statement announcing the launch of a green shipping corridor. The next step will be to launch a feasibility study for this corridor between South Korea and Bremerhaven – with the aim of gradually converting car transport on the Pyeongtaek-Bremerhaven route to low-emission propulsion systems. “The decarbonisation of shipping will not succeed through national efforts alone. It requires partners on the routes, in the ports and among shipping companies,” said Kristina Vogt, Bremen’s Senator for Economic Affairs, Ports and Transformation, regarding this joint initiative.
