“Port is indispensable for energy change”

BREMERHAVEN. At the “18th Windforce Conference” on the site of the Bremerhavener Lloyd Werft dockyard, roughly 250 experts from Germany and around the world discussed the sustainable development of the supplier industry for offshore wind and “green” hydrogen in line with the motto “Implementing Climate Protection Targets and Creating Jobs”. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck was the patron of this firmly established meeting of professionals from the offshore wind industry. At the conference, Bremen’s Port Senator Claudia Schilling emphasised the key importance of efficient port infrastructures for a climate-neutral economy and greater independence from the import of fossil fuels. “The ports are indispensable as a transhipment point, both for the ambitious expansion plans of the German government for offshore wind power as well as for the development of value chains for green hydrogen,” said Schilling.
