Rhenus Road Freight to build new transshipment centre in Dortmund

01.07.2026

HOLZWICKEDE / DORTMUND. Rhenus Road Freight received official approval in June 2026 to build a transshipment centre in Dortmund. The new site, which is scheduled for completion and commissioning in 2027, will replace the existing Road Freight site in nearby Unna. According to the logistics provider, the building design has been tailored to enable more efficient, safe and sustainable operations. “The new site in Dortmund is a clear strategic step in the further development of our Road Freight network,” says Thilo Meutzner, Managing Director of Road Freight at Rhenus. Plans for the new site include around 11,000 square metres of transshipment space and around 100 modern loading bays, which are intended, amongst other things, to ensure fast, flexible cross-docking processes.
