HANOVER/VAREL. At the beginning of February, Lower Saxony’s Energy Minister Olaf Lies (l) gave the starting signal for the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation’s “Green Hydrogen with Offshore Wind Energy” project.

WILHELMSHAVEN. Nordfrost continues to expand its seaport terminal in Wilhelmshaven as a food hub.

BREMEN/HAMBURG. At the beginning of February, Dirk Schneider (c), who headed the German entity of Röhlig Logistics since April 2020, reorganised his management board by adding four experienced logistics experts.

BREMERHAVEN. In the course of preparing to scrap the “Seute Deern”, workers are currently removing paint that contains toxic asbestos from the hull of the museum ship.

HAMBURG. Owing to the temporary reduction in VAT from July to December 2020 and the membership fees already paid to the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany (MCN) at the beginning of 2020, a surplus has resulted.

WILHELMSHAVEN. While full terminals in western ports and other German seaports are currently causing restrictions in the delivery of containers, JadeWeserPort still has free capacities to maintain international supply chains without interruption.

NIEDERSACHSEN. The new website of Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH is impressive. In addition to the new look and the revision of the content, it offers some new features.

BREMERHAVEN. “Everything counts in large amounts”. In this case, the large amounts are made up of garbage and plastic. And the bin that is intended to fish the waste out of the harbour basins is called Seabin.

BREMEN. The year 2020 was dominated by the Coronavirus pandemic, which naturally also left its mark on the ports of Bremen.

HAMBURG. Philipp Best (37) has taken over as Head of Sales at TFG Transfracht in Hamburg with retroactive effect from January 1, 2021.

HOLZWICKEDE. On 1 January, Heiner Delicat, longtime Managing Director of the Bremen seaport service provider Weserport, moved to Rhenus Ports.

BREMEN. How can shifting freight transport to inland waterways help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and relieve the burden on road and rail networks? Answers to these questions were provided in January in an online seminar held jointly by bremenports and the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany.

BREMEN. The Transport Overseas Group continues to expand. After the company had already announced it was opening new offices in Antwerp, Dubai and Berlin in 2020, it recently added its own subsidiaries in Spain (Bilbao) and Poland (Stettin) at the beginning of this year.
