Kick-off for “DigiWeser”
BREMERHAVEN The “DigiWeser” project was officially launched in May 2026 with a kick-off meeting. The core of the initiative is the establishment of a shared digital platform as a testbed, enabling all key stakeholders – from authorities and terminal operators to shipping companies and port service providers – to exchange information more effectively in future, with the aim of achieving so-called just-in-time control of vessel calls. The platform is to be built in the cloud and linked via interfaces to existing systems such as the Port Authority’s specialist system BREPOS and terminal systems. “With DigiWeser, we are taking an important step towards the port of the future. Better coordination among all stakeholders within the digital testbed will allow processes to be optimised. This ensures more efficient use of resources, reduces waiting times at sea and in port, saves fuel and lowers emissions,” explained bremenports employee Matthias Hinz, who, as Smartport Coordinator, also oversees DigiWeser.
