BREMEN/WILHELMSHAVEN. Docking at Bremen ports and the JadeWeserPort became more expensive for the shipping industry at the turn of the year with a price increase of five per cent. Bremen’s Senator for Science and Ports, Dr Claudia Schilling, spoke of a “moderate” rise in fees, which was taken “with due consideration given to the current economic climate”.

BREMEN/BREMERHAVEN. Seven joint stands at international trade fairs, eight customer receptions in Germany and abroad, campaigns for sustainability and SmartPort activities, plus an international highlight with the conference of European seaports – the Bremen ports marketing programme is packed to the brim.

OLDENBURG. André Heim is to remain the managing director of the marketing organisation ‘Seaports of Niedersachsen’ for the next four years.

WILHELMSHAVEN. In November, around 250 representatives from Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and the maritime industry met to discuss their cooperation for the Wadden Sea World Natural Heritage at the 14th Trilateral Wadden Sea Conference in Wilhelmshaven.

BREMERHAVEN. On 1 December, Friedrich Norden was appointed as co-managing director of the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven.

BREMEN/BERLIN. Roughly 130 guests from the world of politics, business and public services attended the bremenports’ “Logistics Talk” new year reception held at the Representative Office of Bremen in Berlin on 12 January.

BREMEN. In October, Jörg Conrad, long-term CEO and shareholder of the Leschaco Group, died after a short illness.

BREMEN. During the Bremen Shipping Congress, Claus Brandt, MD of the German Maritime Centre, presented the prizes for “Excellence in Teaching of Academic Maritime”.

BREMEN. In September, Andreas Hüsing transferred to the seaport hinterland specialist Transcontainer-Universal (TCU) to become Head of Operations. His predecessor, Marcel Sames, had gone to TFG Transfracht.

EMDEN. Aiko Hollander took over as manager of the NPorts branch in Emden in October.

HAMBURG. The German Shipowners’ Association (VDR) has appointed Irina Haesler and Tilo Wallrabenstein to the executive board.

BREMEN. Petra Lüdeke took over as general manager of BHV-Bremische Hafen-und Logistikvertretung on 1 September. She was appointed unanimously by the executive board of the trade association.

MIAMI. The port cooperation of the Northern German Ports (see p 20) appeared at the leading trade fair for logistics, mobility and IT in Miami in November.

BREMEN. The renewable energy sector has become an increasingly important pillar for the Harren Group.

MAGDEBURG. In late October the “German Environmental Prize” took place in Magdeburg.

BREMEN. In late September/early October Bremen was dominated by the maritime industry for almost a week.

CUXHAVEN. The Maritime Safety and Security Centre (MSZ) in Cuxhaven is celebrating two jubilees in 2022.

BREMEN. How can we counter the shortage of skilled workers and young talent in the port and logistics sector?

STADE. Construction work has begun for the planned LNG terminal in the port area of NPorts in Stade after getting approval in September for starting the building early.

CUXHAVEN. As part of the RailRoCargo joint venture, the three partners Transa Spedition, Rhenus Cuxport and DFDS regularly provide a smooth supply of precast elements from the Czech Republic to a construction site in England via rail and sea.

NORDEN. The onshore power plant project in Norddeich came to a successful conclusion in October.

BREMEN. Since October 2022, the Contract division of BLG LOGISTICS consists of three pillars: Contract Operations, Customer & Business Development and Performance Support.

WILHELMSHAVEN. It has taken only 194 days to complete an LNG jetty at Voslapper Groden in Wilhelmshaven.

HAMBURG/CUXHAVEN. The five key ports in northern Europe involved in offshore wind energy agreed on a new partnership at a meeting held in Hamburg in September.

HANNOVER. Ports in Lower Saxony could expect to receive more financial support from the state over the coming years.

BREMEN. Bremen Ports have recently attracted increasing attention through the attributes of “passion” and “sustainability”.

OLDENBURG. The previous manager of Nports Emden branch office has been appointed technical director.

BRAKE. The L.I.T. Group recently extended the executive board in two of its subsidiaries.

KÖLN. Christian Hoffmann was elected the new president of the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) in mid-August.

BREMEN. The project freight-forwarding company Combi Lift has strengthened its team.
