WANGEROOGE. Work on the refurbishment of the island’s supply port began at Wangerooge harbour in March 2026. The works form part of a wider project to modernise the harbour infrastructure there.

BREMEN thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH has won the 2026 Project Logistics Award presented by BHV – Bremische Hafen- und Logistikvertretung. The chemical plant designer and constructor was recognised for the project “Module360 – End-to-End Logistics and Implementation Concept for Standardised and Modularised Plant Projects”, which it carried out in collaboration with other partners.

BREMEN. With 71 exhibitors and over 1,200 attendees, the second edition of LogisticsConnect in Bremen in March was a great success.

BREMEN. Compared with 2024, container throughput at Bremen’s ports grew by 10.3 per cent in 2025. Following a figure of around 4.4 million TEU in 2024, around 4.9 million TEU were handled in 2025. March 2025 was the most successful month, with 431,000 TEU.

EMDEN. The Meyer shipyard in Papenburg will have four of its new cruise ships fitted out at Emden’s outer harbour in 2027 and 2028.

SINGAPORE. Change of leadership at Singapore-based container shipping company ONE (Ocean Network Express): Till Ole Barrelet will replace Jeremy Nixon as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on July 1, 2026.

BREMEN. In February, Röhlig Logistics presented its preliminary figures for the 2025 financial year. Despite geopolitical tensions and structural margin pressure, the logistics company increased its gross profit from €229 million in 2024 to €234 million in 2025.

EMDEN/DÖRPEN. For more than 40 years, the two locations of Emden and Dörpen have been closely connected. Each year, more than 400 inland vessels operate between the two ports.

BREMEN. The fact that the fishing industry is an important pillar of the seaport of Cuxhaven was clearly demonstrated by the Cuxhaven joint stand at the trade fair fish international in Bremen. A total of 15 exhibitors showcased the expertise of the location along the entire value chain.

KIRCHHEIM UNTER TECK. In February, Mosolf Port Logistics & Services (MPLS) took over a terminal in the port of Ostend. It covers around 80,000 square metres with capacity for up to 3,000 vehicle parking spaces.

EMDEN/DÖRPEN. On the initiative of CDU state parliament member Hartmut Moorkamp, the “Emden-Dörpen Port Dialogue” was launched in February. Representatives from both ports met with politicians and administrators in Dörpen.

BREMERHAVEN. In February, EUROGATE and APM Terminals, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller–Maersk, announced that they were in advanced negotiations for a long-term partnership.

BREMERHAVEN. With a symbolic ‘first pile driven,’ construction officially began on the new north pier in February. This marks the start of work on the Bremerhaven structure, which was damaged in an accident in 2022.

CUXHAVEN In February, NPorts presented its plans for a barrier-free partial reconstruction of the ‘Alte Liebe’ in Cuxhaven. The structure will be rebuilt above the existing foundations and raised higher.

Last week, ZDS President Prof. Dr. Sebastian Jürgens visited the Seaports of Niedersachsen and engaged in direct discussions with representatives of the port industry.

WILHELMSHAVEN. On January 24, the Los Angeles Express, a ship belonging to Gemini Corporation’s Indian Ocean Service (IOS), docked at the Eurogate Container Terminal in Wilhelmshaven for the first time.

BREMEN. At the beginning of the year, Leschaco announced the appointment of Emile Goossens as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from April 1, 2026. Goossens succeeds interim CFO Lutz Weber, whose term of office ended at the end of 2025.

OSNABRÜCK. Hellmann Worldwide Logistics appointed Jan Bierewirtz as Head of Sales E-Commerce at the beginning of January.

BREMERHAVEN. With the cloud-based platform operateMybox and the CONROO app, Addicks & Kreye is digitizing its depot and gate processes.

NORDDEICH Artificial lighting at night has far-reaching effects on humans, animals, and the environment. The international research project “Darker Sky” has therefore set itself the goal of developing innovative and sustainable lighting solutions.

BREMEN. Bremen and Bremerhaven are preparing their ports for the consequences of climate change. With the state’s updated climate adaptation strategy, the key measure “Land 7 – resilient ports” was adopted at the end of 2025.

BREMEN. On January 1, 2026, Hendrik Klar, previously authorized signatory, succeeded Christoph Holtkemper as the new managing director of the Bremen intermodal terminal and rail operator Roland Umschlagsgesellschaft.

BREMERHAVEN. At the end of November 2025, the BLG Group welcomed Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas and his delegation.

OLDENBURG. NPorts successfully obtained ISO 50001 certification in December 2025, officially confirming the port company’s commitment to sustainable and systematic energy management.

AHLHORN. In December 2025, the new BLG LOGISTICS inland terminal in Ahlhorn was officially opened by Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Transport and Construction, Grant Hendrik Tonne.

BRAKE. In December, NPorts and the town of Nordenham launched a joint expression-of-interest procedure to explore the future use of the Großen¬siel port area.

BREMEN. Frank Dreeke, former CEO of BLG LOGISTICS, was officially inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame in December 2025.

WILHELMSHAVEN. At the beginning of the new year, Hannah Ohorn took over as sole Managing Director of the Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW).

BREMEN. Marcel Egger, former member of the Group Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of the Eurogate Group, left the company on 31 December 2025 for health reasons.
